global perspective

sorry didn't go to the presentation , unfortunately couldn't make it . But i know how i feel about the issues on our planet the fact its too dirty and polluted and we need to do all we can to clean it up before human kind will die out, also these wars need to end im not asking for world peace , because that will never happen , but it would be nice to stop this violence and save soem lives  lets leave it to natural disasters to wipe out human kind not bombs and guns . And remember lets recycle!

My grades and making a difference

Looking at my grades from last semester , I cant help but be a little disappointed in some of my grades. i know i got a D-  in my writing class which really upset me because i felt i was doing really well and then i was slapped in the face with a D. as far as my other classes go i did well but there is always room for improvement . This semester i have made some changes , i am not working as much so i can concentrate on my school work,  also i study more , take some weekends off from having fun and just mainly apply myself more then i have before, because i realized that trying to cruise through college is not as easy as it seemed and I'm to doing this for anyone else but myself so why not try harder to make myself feel good , and hopefully have an awesome job in the future.

Liberal Arts Education

What do i feel about liberal arts education? well in ways i like it in other ways i disagree with the system. I feel like in liberal arts education we as students take so many classes tat are not necessary for our majors and i feel like if I'm paying so much money for my education and pursuing a degree in a certain area i should be taking courses that mainly concentrate on my major so i can get my degree faster and not fill my mind with pointless classes that I'm never going to use in the future. But than again in some aspects liberal arts education can effect students positively because many people change their major few times in their college career so these classes that are mandatory but some don't want to take can help some people maybe discover new interests so its really up to the person what kind of education they want to pursue .

Pictures

We've just posted pictures on our blogs of all the events and things to do around campus to become involved in and ways to feel a part of our campus community. Click on the links to the FYE students in my class to see their pictures.

Snow and more snow....

Well, I'm wondering what all of my freshman are thinking of all this snow. Feel free to leave a comment or picture and let me know. It's always fun to hear about students who have never seen snow or this much snow. I hope that you are getting an opportunity to go skiing, snowboarding and sledding and have snow ball fights and don't forget snow angels!! (of course, don't skip class to do these things!!)This is one of my favorite times in Banner Elk, it's beautiful and one of the things that makes this a really fun place to be in the winter. Have fun this weekend and be safe!

And so it goes...

Well, it's mid-term and I absolutely can't believe half of the first semester is over. We are registering for spring classes already. The weather has changed a bit. The wooly worms arrived. The leaves are all yellow and orange and the temperatures are dropping. I think snow will be just around the corner. All of my freshman are still here, surviving and doing pretty well. You should all be proud of yourselves, but keep bloggin'!!
